This extra heavy 1 1/8" x 13/16" diamond bar steel stock bars keeps the coals up on the grate for complete burn. It provides a screening that keeps those large embers up on the fireplace grate where they will burn with the logs. A more complete burn means more heat from the same amount of firewood.
